Apologies, but we couldn't display this passage from ESV.org.
Please read Ezekiel 42.

In this chapter there is a great emphasis on the temple being a holy place. God is holy and those who approach Him must be holy, set apart frm the world, its sin and uncleanness.

This explains the purpose of the different chambers, these smaller rooms that were part of the temple complex. In these rooms the priests would eat the substance of the offerings (v13). These offerings were not to be taken and eaten outside but only in this holy place. This remind sus that the things of God such as His worship, prayer and His Word are holy and to be approached in a proper and not in a casual manner. We approach acknowledging that these things belong to the God of holiness.

The priests were not to take their garments out of the temple (v14). Their garments were holy and were not to be contaminated by the outide world. We can only approach God wearing the holy garments of Christ’s righteousness. As part of God’s holy people we need to separate ourselves from the things of the world which are unclean and sinful (v20).
